Jenny Zoe Casey is a Brooklyn-based artist whose practice translates the experience of sound into visual form. Working with humble materials — graphite, plaster, paper, and cloth — she pushes against the flat surface: layering, cutting, building forms that occupy the territory between drawing, sculpture, and collage. Waves, pulses, and resonant marks make up her visual vocabulary, giving shape to the energetic life of quiet sound.

Born in Oregon and raised in rural, working-class neighborhoods on Oahu, Casey holds a BFA from California College of Arts and Crafts and an MA in Art History from the University of Washington. Her work has been shown nationally at colleges, universities, community art centers, and artist-run spaces. Recent exhibitions include a three-person show at the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art, University of Southern Indiana, and a group show at CHART in New York City. She has completed residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Oxbow School of Art, received an Illinois Arts Council grant, and contributed writing to Two Coats of Paint.
